MSV – Museum Smart View

Reimagining Cultural Heritage Through Immersive Tech & Strategic Design

Project developed for Majorbit Consulting

Museum Smart View is a modular framework designed to support the digital transformation of Italy’s museum ecosystem. This high-impact initiative leverages immersive technologies, interactive learning tools, and strategic narrative design to redefine cultural engagement in heritage spaces. With a tailor-made approach, MSV provides scalable digital solutions aligned with the unique characteristics of each exhibition space, moving beyond mere educational support to enable new modes of interaction, storytelling, and visitor involvement.

01. Visual Identity System

The “Museum Smart View” naming was translated into a minimal, system-oriented logotype. The acronym MSV becomes a geometric, modernist symbol that encapsulates the project’s tech-driven nature. A refined color palette—combining subdued beige with institutional charcoal blue—was developed to reflect the aesthetic sensibilities of leading European museums, ensuring seamless integration across both physical and digital environments.

02. Augmented Reality Application (on-site)

The MSV AR app extends the in-museum experience by providing contextual digital content via smartphones and next-gen tablets. Using content recognition and spatial tracking, visitors can access multimedia layers—text, audio, and video—overlaid directly on the displayed artworks. To enhance engagement, we introduced a gamified quiz feature, activating mechanisms of challenge and reward to stimulate active learning and improve content retention throughout the exhibition path.

03. Virtual Reality Application (off-site)

To expand access beyond the physical museum, we developed a dedicated VR application for use with immersive headsets. Inside a fully reconstructed digital environment, users can interact with 3D models of the artworks, navigate a virtual gallery space, and be guided by a narrative avatar representing the Duke of Martina. The VR tour is designed for both on-site use (via VR corners within the museum) and remote access, effectively turning the museum into a globally accessible cultural platform.

04. High School Experience & Audience Testing

The entire framework was field-tested during an Experience Day at the Duke of Martina National Museum of Ceramics, in collaboration with the Don Geremia Piscopo High School in Arzano (Naples). Students engaged in guided sessions using AR and VR tools, followed by Q&A interactions with the development team. The feedback confirmed strong levels of curiosity and participation, validating the potential of immersive technologies to connect younger generations with cultural heritage in meaningful ways.
